Welcome to the Puskas Family Alaska Vacation blog! Exactly 20 years ago, our family took the trip of a lifetime. Now we re-live it day by day by blogging what we wrote in our journal and displaying the photos we took along the way.
The journal entries have been corrected for spelling, but other than that remain as they were penned into our red journal 20 years ago!
The photos were photographed with a point & shoot camera straight from our huge 4 inch thick photo album, and therefore may not be perfectly straight, clear or color accurate, as the plastic covering the photos is difficult to photograph through. They have been cropped to minimize the effects of this, but they are not perfect, so keep that in mind when looking at the photos.

We don't have photos for every day of the journey, but an attempt has been made to make each entry as interesting and interactive as possible by linking to as much relevant information that can be found on the internet about the places we visited, things we did, things we saw. When a link couldn't be found, an address or phone number will be included at the bottom of the journal entry in italics, as they were not part of the original journal entry.
The tags entered for each day are an attempt to capture the subjects we mentioned most, and also to list the major places we were each day.
At the bottom there is a Google Map of our journey with as many dated points on it as could be plotted based on the journal entries. Should be a good tool to follow along to see exactly where we were each step along the way.
As each day is posted my family & I will be commenting on any memories we have about that day, or commentary on what it might be like in the present day if we were to do the same thing.
I was 10 years old (summer between 5th & 6th grade) at the time of the trip, and my Sister Kari was 6 years old (summer between 1st & 2nd grade).
